For most students, the academic program chosen while attending college is the beginning of a successful career path. Giving Week 2024 is the perfect opportunity to support student scholarships in the program that you studied while at Rocky Mountain College.
Rocky Mountain College offers a wide variety of programs, including undergraduate, pre-professional, pre-health science, and graduate study options with a number of majors, minors, and concentrations. Our undergraduate core curriculum (general education study) is founded in a strong liberal arts tradition that encourages students to develop skills in leadership, communication, critical thinking, creative expression, and professional excellence.
A few of the exceptional faculty members at RMC have shared their insight below:
"With around 100 students, the biology program is consistently one of the largest
academic programs at Rocky Mountain College. Most of our students anticipate futures in
health care, but a biology graduate is equipped for an array of scientific careers. We’re
currently training individuals to be doctors, physician assistants, teachers and researchers.
Recent graduates are pharmacists, veterinarians, and PhD candidates. We’re proud of the
diverse interests of our students and the respective careers they pursue.
The academic discipline of biology is broad, requiring experts to specialize in a
focused field of study. Our students survey the breadth of the discipline from diverse and
talented faculty. Those faculty include an anatomist, a biochemist, a geneticist, an
ecologist and a virologist. Students take a combination of required biology, chemistry and
physics courses, but each student ultimately designs a degree specific to their interests.
Each student receives an individualized experience, making the applicants competitive for
many exciting and challenging careers.
Although Rocky Mountain College is a small school, the biology program provides
the resources of a large major. We have a new laboratory building that houses state of the
art equipment. Included is a dedicated cadaver space with four cadavers. We also have a
progressive virtual reality laboratory to complement our wet labs. Unlike larger institutions,
undergraduates at Rocky have the opportunity to pursue independent research projects
and participate in cadaver dissection; experiences typically reserved for graduate students.
Ultimately, the biology undergrad has unparalleled opportunity to engage in the
individualized training of a small institution, but with access to advanced resources.
A graduate from Rocky Mountain College’s biology program can do many things.
While some students arrive as freshmen knowing their career goals, others find their paths
as they work through the curriculum. Along that path, our biology professors are more than
knowledgeable instructors. With the opportunity to serve as advisors and professors in
multiple courses, the faculty make meaningful connections with students, allowing them to
support their academic and career success."

“The Health and Human Performance program focuses on both performance-based and clinical
understanding and application of human movement and exercise science principles. Students
are engaged through hands-on experience in the lab and student-driven research to prepare
them to be leaders in the workplace upon graduation. Human Performance graduates find
opportunities to work in strength and conditioning coaching, personal training, and group
wellness settings. The Health Science major prepares students for healthcare careers in
physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant, and medical
school. Our curriculum design allows students to fulfill graduate school prerequisite course
requirements while facilitating high acceptance rates into top graduate and professional
programs.”

"The business program challenges students to excel and provides graduates with the skills
necessary for successful careers in the wide-ranging field of business. Students complete a
core set of business courses in their first few semesters and then choose to concentrate in
business management, accounting, or small business management. These concentrations are
designed to provide not only a strong business background, but also foundational skills.
Additionally, the program offers a master of accountancy program. Students simultaneously
earn an undergraduate degree in business management and a master’s degree in accountancy
- all within five years of study. The program is a highly challenging, yet highly rewarding, for
those who choose to pursue it.
In combination with the liberal arts core curriculum, the program provides students with the
opportunity to develop communication and teamwork skills. Graduates are effective problem
solvers, ready to face the challenges of an ever-changing business environment. An important
aspect of the program is the intentional emphasis of education over training. To this end, faculty
do not strive to train students for a specific industry, career, or job. Rather, graduates leave
RMC with an ability to utilize their education to follow their desired professional paths. The
program also emphasizes the importance of developing professional dispositions and behaviors
in addition to mastering course material.
The program contributes and supports the overall mission and core themes of the college. Most
notably, academic excellence and transformational learning are at the forefront of how the
program is constructed and executed. Faculty believe that each student arrives at RMC with
unique dispositions, skills, and knowledge. The business program, and RMC as a whole,
challenges, develops, and transforms students into being better, more educated professional
versions of themselves upon graduation compared to when they first arrived on campus. This
process positions students for professional success and informed citizenship.
Students who come to RMC and earn their degrees in business have their lives changed
forever. For many, attending Rocky Mountain College is only possible through scholarships that
are available because of gifts made to the scholarship fund. On behalf of the faculty, thank you
for considering making a donation that will have a life-long impact on current and future students
of our program."
